Dogs Days of Summer

So Summer is here and with it the heat. Working on cars is always a joy, but without a shop rolling around a driveway, especially an asphalt one can be a real power drain. My Goal for today was to get my 67 back on the road. I did a couple of quick jobs yesterday and was still able to complete the modification and replacement of the Spindle that was terrorizing my bearings. The goals today seamed more reasonable; rebuild the rear brakes and swap out the proportioning valve for the 69 disc brakes I put in and put in my fresh rebuild carb. 1st issue was the “simple fitting to adapt the rear brake line to the proportioning valve didn’t exist. I had my fitting guys custom make one for me. The 2nd, and even bigger issue, was the sun blazing down on me and the asphalt burning any inch of skin that it came in contact with. To top it all off…. one of my brand new wheel cylinders was bad and leaking fluid all over. Talk about a buzz kill. here I was thinking I was about to have a car again just to find out I have one more trip to the parts store before I can get her back in cruising shape.

I had hoped to get La Rata back on the road too, but that will have to wait for another week. 2 days on this one has robbed enough from my wallet. I pray for patients, I pray for strength, and right now I pray for a little more business to be able to get a shop before the rains come back and maybe even before the heat wipes me out.

 Dreamer, out
